ForestWISE - Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated
Forest & Fire Management

 

Ph.D. in Forestry and Natural Resources by the School of Agriculture (ISA), University of Lisbon (ULisboa). Senior researcher at ForestWISE (Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest and Fire Management) - Campus UTAD, Vila Real to conduct forest and fire management activities with the aim of building a cohesive approach to overcoming rural fires in the face of global changes (socioeconomic, climate, market demands, abiotic and biotic risks). Coordinator of task 1 - Ecosystem dynamics and indicators in the BIOECOSYS project. Previously, 6-years assistant researcher and member of the FORCHANGE research line at the Forest Research Centre (CEF) and Laboratory Terra in ISA. Moreover, she has 7-years of professional experience at non-profit organizations, state agencies, as well as national consultancy in the field of fire management planning of Mediterranean species; combined with research experience since 2008 as member integrated at CEF. Over the past 15-years, she made substantial contributions to the development of tools to support the design of fire-resistant and resilient landscapes, and effective assessment of ecosystem services indicators from a practical-methodological perspective to drive forest management decisions that play a prominent role at national level. She has been involved in a substantial number of national and international research projects and co-authored more than 20 international peer-reviewed publications.
